About Me

I learned to knit from my Mom's friend, June Grossberg in November 2005. My Mom knitted when I was in high school and I was not interested yet. I always thought that my Mom would be the one to teach me how to knit one day but she never got the chance. Right when I decided to learn Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. Mom was a survivor in 1999 but in January 2005 the cancer came back. My Mom lost her fight and moved to heaven on September 9th, 2005. She was 60 years old. I not only said goodbye to my Mom that day but my best friend and the closest thing to a sister I ever had.

I met June at Mom's funeral. I knew a lot about her and felt like I knew her already. She and Mom were great friends but we had never met in person. I bonded with June on the spot. She has been knitting for years and is the owner of Concepts in Yarn & Needle Point in Torrance, CA. www.conceptsinyarn.com

June called me in October 2005 and told me that she was going to have an event November 4th, 2005 honoring my Mom at her shop. She asked me to attend and I said yes of course but I had one condition - she had to teach me how to knit. Well I took to knitting like you can't believe - I guess it was in my genes. Knitting has been the BEST therapy for me. I don't think I have stopped knitting since June taught me.

I knit everywhere ask my four boy's. I even knit at the movie theaters. About 6 months after I began my knitting therapy my husband, Scott asked me what in the world was I going to do with all of it? By this time I had felted purses and scarves covering our dining room table. I had no idea what to do with all of them all I cared about was knitting. I must give Scott all the credit for this business. He said why don't you sell what you are knitting? Give each purse a style name - like the names of all your friends? Then he came up with the business name.

Close "Knit" Friends. Who would have thought that my therapy could lead to this. So in honor of my Mom, Patti Ferro and all my Close "Knit" Friends this is for you.

God Bless You,
Tricia
